The “3rd & Elm” print is a tribute to a huge milestone in my career. My first mural. Not only was it my first mural but with was through Pow!Wow! I remember discovering them and thinking how cool it would be to one day be one of the local artists to be invited to paint a mural in Long Beach. After some years, the universe delivered. And I got the invite to be on the 2018 roster of artists.Unfortunately it didn’t last very long. Due to renovations on the building. It was painted over :( That’s why I decided to commemorate that mural and memory in print form. Dig-In 18X24

Creating my own Dia De Los Muertos Calavera has been on my list for some time now. However, I held off because, I’ve always felt the traditional style has become quite saturated, not just in the art but also in pop culture. Or super derivative of my brother Ernesto Yerena's Calavera. Which remains my all-time favorite graphic rendition.
What I aimed for was to create a Calavera that's distinct, a departure from the traditional while still capturing that authentic essence.This has been my most ambitious print to date – it boasts eight colors! Never thought I’d hear that coming from me…I'm genuinely stoked with how it turned out, and I hope you'll dig it too.

En Vida Y Muerte - Jade 16x20

“Luna” which translates to “Moon” is an exploration of duality. Juxtaposing the Moon Goddess with the dark and sinister Black Widow. I enjoy making images of beautiful women with a subversive twist. Hiding the Black Widow in my work is half the fun. You don’t quite know why the image is both moody and tranquil until you spot the spider lurking in the piece. Much like the moon, there is a dark side to everything, equally matching its beauty.

The 2020 Election came and went. We survived Trump and got Biden... I'm glad orange man is out of office but I wasn't too stoked on voting for Biden either. I was really crossing my fingers for Bernie. His stance against billionaires and support for campaign finance reform is what inspired the idea for this print. Juxtaposed with the tongue in cheek idea of the popular "Shoot The Red Star" carnival game with a BB gun.
The planet is at the mercy of huge corporations with deep pockets that easily sway politicians to vote for or against policies that will benefit them. We wont truly see change in our country until we get money out of politics. It all goes the way of the highest bidder. 
The irony is that we literally have Billionaires shooting for the stars. Elon, Bezos, Branson. I hate it here...

After High School and through most of my college years. I worked at Haagen Dazs, Downtown Disney from 2002-2008’ish. I lived in Carson, drove to Santa Monica for college then drove to Anaheim for work, pretty much every day. I would sometimes get my schedule mixed up, and would sometimes show up an hour or two early to work. When that happened I’d walk into Disneyland (cast members get in for free) and jumped on Pirates Of The Caribbean to kill time. To this day it stills carry’s the escapism I felt as a child. The immersiveness is unbeatable, The Haunted Mansion comes in close 2nd, maybe because they’re both 25 minutes long, or more. Pirates is a classic. The smell of chlorinated water and swashbuckling pirates never gets old… Who’s got some Rum!?!

Dead Men Tell No Tales 18x24

I stumbled upon James Martin on social media, and I was immediately drawn to his content and his laid-back vibe. What sets him apart is his willingness to share valuable information in an industry filled with gatekeepers.
Our paths finally crossed last summer in Austin, Texas, where we both happened to be guest speakers at Crop Cons. It was pretty awesome because we hit it off right away, and it felt like we'd been buddies for years.
During his talk, he got real personal, sharing his experiences as a victim of child abuse. Without missing a beat, I yelled out, "You've got this, Papa!" to show my support. Afterward, we got to chatting about the possibility of collaborating. While brainstorming ideas, I couldn't shake the impact of his talk, and that's what fueled my inspiration for this artwork.
Now, I might not have lived through what he did as a kid, but I can totally relate to the struggles of dealing with mental health, depression, and anxiety as a creative. So, I came up with this art piece, featuring a lightbulb juxtaposed with a skull-shaped maze to represent the mental acrobatics we often go through.
Mental health is a big deal for me, and I want people to know they're not alone when their brains throw a wrench in their creative works. It's like a superpower in its own way. Even when I'm a bit hard on myself, I power through it and create something I'm genuinely proud of, even if it takes me a while.
